ZWPA produces a quarterly newsletter, "Ribbit". "Ribbit" contains
members' articles on animal handling, animal care, new exhibits,
interpretive programs, hot issues, hilarious true stories and much
more.
Each year, NAI offers a national training workshop.
ZWPA members contribute a multitude of presentations and sessions
to increase awareness and understanding regarding animal husbandry
and programming with live animals. During this time, ZWPA has its
annual meeting where members discuss current issues, trends and plan
for the next year.
This section also offers an annual scholarship to its
members. The scholarship, once rewarded is applicable for attendance
at a live-animal workshop or conference. The applications are offered
each June, with the receipient being awarded shortly after. For details
on this opportunity, contact the section chair at ZWPA1@aol.com.
Currently, ZWPA members are working hard to increase
communication and support between NAI and similar agencies and professional
organizations, write and publish books on animal care for non-formal
institutions, and raise funds for the section.
If you have a job opening at your institution and would
like to advertise it in Ribbit and on the ZWPA website, you're
in luck! We are now offering free ad space to ZWPA members for job
descriptions only. Members can receive two business card-sized ads
in Ribbit per year that will run for one issue each. Ads will be
included in Ribbit on a first-come, first-serve
basis. Postings and descriptions will remain on the ZWPA Jobs web
page for 30 days. We may limit the number of ads per issue to keep
our format simple. For more details, contact Nicole Mantz at nmantz@mac.com.
