Waiting for our lawyer in the Fort Smith jail room
Travis, Naomi and Amy arrived at the Northwest Regional Airport and were soon treated to a one-of-a-kind Jon Brown tour of Fayetteville. This was based on Jon's knowledge gleaned from reading every sign within sight before his passengers did, then passing off the information like he had always known it.
We finally made our way to Devil's Den State Park where everyone napped, then some took a hike, while others watched the Olympics.
We had recovered from our day of travel enough that Thursday was an excellent tour of parks within Jon's area. Our first stop was at Lake Fort Smith State Park - an absolutely beautiful spot and building. We held our NCDA officer business meeting with a great discussion and suggestions.
The meeting continued a bit into the car ride down to Fort Smith National Historic Site where we enjoyed an excellent interpretive tour given by the Superintendent, William Black. He even took a few of us around the rest of the grounds in a quick 10 minute golf cart tour. They have a beautiful spot.
After heading back north for a bit of recreational fun at Hobbs State Park - Conservation Area our day ended with a trip to Walmart - very appropriate considering we were in the heart of WalmartLand.
