The fall of 2001 saw the creation of the first section of the National Association for Interpretation dedicated to providing a forum for college and university academics from around the world. Approved by the NAI Board of Directors, the section has already held its formal election of officers and is coordinating a preworkshop session for the National Interpreters Workshop in Virginia Beach on the topic of “Evaluating Interpretive Programs.” The section has also established a list-serve for its members so as to facilitate better communication and networking and published an online newsletter. The section is also coordinating the research track at the NIW in Virginia as well as the workshop’s Student Day activities. Finally, the section is promoting the Journal of Interpretation Research with its members and beyond so as to ensure publication of this vital membership benefit.

To learn more about the section, contact one of the officers: Tom Mullin, chair (tmullin@unity.edu), Teresa Goldman, vice-chair; Brenda Lackey, secretary (lack6827@uidaho.edu); and Carolyn Widner, treasurer (CJW5@AXE.humboldt.edu).
